A Stronger Future for Working People Is on the Ballot
WPEA says vote YES on Olympia’s Proposition 1!
Olympia residents have an opportunity to make history by supporting the Workers’ Bill of Rights, a community-driven initiative that sets stronger, more predictable standards for working people. This proposal promotes respect on the job, greater control over work schedules, and wages that reflect the true cost of living in our region.
When working people thrive, the entire community benefits. Families gain stability, small businesses see improved retention, and our local economy becomes more resilient. The Workers’ Bill of Rights is designed to ensure that everyone—from grocery clerks to health care workers—has the tools needed to build secure, healthy lives here in Olympia.
Other cities that have adopted similar measures report lower turnover, higher morale, and stronger local economies. This is a proven, practical step forward—not an experiment—and Olympia has the chance to lead once again.
Proposition 1 has earned widespread support from local leaders and organizations, including Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal, City Councilmembers Jim Cooper, Clark Gilman, and Robert Vanderpool, as well as unions WPEA, UFCW 367, WFSE 443, and the Thurston Mason Lewis Central Labor Council. More than 13,000 residents signed in support.
