On Saturday, May 16, members from WPEA joined hundreds of other union members from across the state to debate and vote on the Washington State Labor Council’s endorsements for 2026. This is a big election year in Washington, with five Supreme Court races, 10 congressional seats, 98 state house seats, and 24 state senate seats on the ballot.

It was a full day, as candidates and delegates spent the morning mingling, meeting each other, and discussing our shared priorities. Delegates also had the chance to hear speeches from sitting US representatives and watch panels of supreme court candidates. Then we spent the afternoon in closed-door session, debating the relative merits of candidates in more than 100 races. You can see the complete list of WSLC’s endorsements here. Candidates must earn a 2/3 vote of the delegates in order to win endorsement.
WPEA is conducting our own candidate interview and endorsement process, and we want you to participate! We’re conducting candidate interviews over Zoom on Mondays and Tuesdays at 6pm, and Thursdays at 12pm.
