As of July 1st, WPEA members officially earn less per hour than other unions doing the same work. As Amanda said in her letter, this will not stand. But Amanda, our bargaining teams, and a few staff are not enough to force change on their own.

We need collective power, and that means better communication. Right now, we’re limited by outdated tools and too few staff to coordinate the scale of action we need.

Here’s how we fix it:

Host a summer BBQ with a raffle. To enter the raffle, members just need to join and verify on Discord , or show proof that they’ve already done it.

These BBQs build community, increase visibility, and help us shift to peer-to-peer coordination. Once connected, members can plan powerful actions like walkouts directly in private Discord spaces, across any unit, anytime. This frees up staff to focus on support systems, funding requests, and tools for action.

If we want change, we have to organize differently. Let’s start with food, connection, and a plan.
