RATIFIED

The results are in: KRL members have voted to ratify the new contract.

Thank you to the bargaining representatives who spent many hours negotiating these updated terms on behalf of the unit. And thank you to everyone who participated in this process, asked questions, reviewed the tentative agreement, and made your voice heard. Even though the contract was approved, many KRL members believe more progress is still needed.

A ratified contract ends this round of bargaining, but it does not erase the concerns raised during this process. The frustration many members expressed about wages, working conditions, and the employer’s priorities, created a lot of energy this cycle, and that energy needs an outlet.

The next phase is about staying connected, enforcing the agreement, identifying workplace patterns early, and continuing to build the communication structure members need between bargaining cycles. Bargaining is not the only moment when workers build power. What happens between contracts is often even more vital.

In the coming weeks, WPEA will be launching a new website that will give members and stewards more ways to share workplace updates, communicate about broad workplace concerns, and keep important issues visible across the union. Members who want to keep building from this moment will have opportunities to contribute as authors and help strengthen communication within their workplace and across WPEA.

WPEA’s Discord is also available as a real-time space for member conversation and cross-unit coordination. The website and email will continue to be used for official updates and announcements, while Discord gives members a place to communicate more directly with one another.

The contract has been ratified. Now we continue the work of enforcing it, communicating with each other, and building the member participation needed for what comes next.
