WSSB LMCC May 30th

Summer is almost here, and you deserve time for you! Before we break away, I would like to ask you to share any questions or concerns that you would like for me to discuss with WSSB management during our next LMCC – scheduled for May 30^th from 1 pm – 2:30. Examples would be questions regarding staffing or hiring, workplace safety and health, policy or procedure changes, workload and staffing concerns, etc.

Most recently WPEA and your shop stewards have asked for written procedures/policies for (this is a copy/paste of our agenda in April):

  • Requesting WSSB procedure/policy/document outlining clear expectations and timing of reports for teachers to utilize throughout the school year
  • Requesting WSSB survey to teachers regarding the most recent change of timing for report cards (Jan) and involvement in discussing the questions posed
  • Teachers and TAs – timing to discuss students
  • Requesting WSSB procedure/policy/document outlining clear instructional expectations for teachers and para’s and their ability to schedule collaboration time in their schedules
  • OSPI confirms TAs can instruct under teacher supervision, but “supervision” remains undefined. TAs should not provide instruction without prior teacher collaboration.
  • Requesting WSSB to send notice to Teachers and TAs regarding their ability to request collaboration time into their schedule

WSSB shared interest in creating an on-campus handbook for teachers, similar format to the out-reach handbook. Sean mentioned a committee of teachers and management collaborating to create this and it will be addressed during our next meeting.
