Let’s Connect This January
We’ve been hearing consistent feedback from members that you want more visibility, more communication, and more opportunities to connect with your union. We agree completely—and we’re working hard to make that happen.
We’ve asked DOR management for the standard worksite access outlined in the contract, and it turns out there are a few internal procedures they’re still sorting through before we can consistently be on-site. While we help them work through that, we don’t want to lose momentum—so we’re setting up off-site opportunities to meet you where you are.
Below are three upcoming events in January. We’d love to see you at one (or all!):
January 7th: Off-Site Lunch at The Brick
Shelley will be at The Brick on Trosper from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and lunch is on us. Drop by whenever your schedule allows—whether you want to share a concern, ask a question, or just enjoy a relaxed moment to connect. It’s a low-pressure space to speak freely and be heard.
The Brick is located at: 707 Trosper Rd SW, Tumwater, WA 98512
January 21st, 12 p.m.: Member Meeting – Room 259 (6500 Building)
Join us for sandwiches, drinks, and a clear, accessible walk-through of what the union is working on and how your dues support that work. If you’ve ever wanted a real peek behind the curtain—or just want to feel more grounded in what representation looks like—this is the meeting to attend.
January 26th & February 5th: Lobby Days
At our last Tumwater meeting, members specifically asked about lobby days—so we’re excited to share this! January 26th is Progressive Revenue Lobby Day with the organization Balance Our Tax Code, and February 5th is the Washington State Labor Council Lobby Day. Lobby Day is a powerful chance to make your voice heard at the Capitol and connect with members from across the state. If you take time off from work to attend the entire day, WPEA can help reimburse you for some travel and lodging (some restrictions apply).
