Yesterday was a historic action taken by Clark College WPEA members. Members from across multiple departments took a stand and walked out of work to protest against the states offensive proposal, shutting down several departments for the rest of the day.
And your action did not go unnoticed. We heard from several members that VP of Human Resources, Brad Avakian, was seen destroying walkout posters posted in GHL. A not surprising, but unsupportive action by our leadership that shows exactly why participating in the walkout was so important yesterday.
Not only was our action felt by the college, but the publicalso heard about why the walkout was necessary in yesterday’s Columbian article , giving a voice to members directly impacted by the low wages our jobs pay us.
As we gear up for voting on the upcoming contract, your bargaining team is asking you to vote NO as part of our escalation and telling the state that we will no longer stand for their bad faith bargaining and low ball offers. Voting NO will send your bargaining team back to the table to get you the contract you sent them to bargain for.
