Demand Weekly Negotiations
We are excited to launch a critical letter-writing campaign from October 30th through November 8th, 2024, calling on the Office of Financial Management (OFM) to return to weekly negotiations until we secure a contract we can ratify.
Our president, Amanda Hacker, communicated WPEA’s readiness to resume negotiations immediately, proposing weekly four-hour sessions to maintain steady progress toward a ratifiable agreement.
She highlighted that, despite economic challenges, meaningful improvements are still possible even through the frustration from OFM’s lack of movement on key priorities, which played a role in the rejection of the previous tentative agreements.
Despite our readiness to resume talks immediately, OFM has proposed delaying negotiations until February 2025—a delay that risks damaging morale, disrupting public services, and stalling meaningful improvements for public employees.
Together, we must make it clear: delaying negotiations is unacceptable and weekly meetings are essential to reaching an agreement.
