After an unprecedented journey that began with members rejecting their contracts last fall, both Higher Education and General Government members have now voted to ratify their revised contracts. Highline members will vote shortly.
While these ratifications mark the end of a historic chapter, they also reflect the difficult choices we’ve had to make under immense pressure and an unforgiving timeline.
Higher Education = Ratified
74% Yes
26% No
General Government = Ratified
79% Yes
21% No
This vote wasn’t about celebration—it was about strategy.
We took legal action, appealed to the Supreme Court, and pursued every possible avenue. OFM did agree to return—reluctantly—and even then, they resisted making meaningful improvements. The revised contracts offer only marginal gains, but with the state’s final budget deadline approaching, members faced a difficult choice: hold the line and risk losing raises entirely, or lock in modest gains and regroup for the next fight.
With the next bargaining cycle just around the corner, starting next spring, now is the time to build power locally. Talk with your coworkers, host gatherings, and grow our solidarity—because we’re coming back to the table stronger, louder, and more united than ever.
In Solidarity,
