We wanted to share some updates with you, notes from the most recent membership meeting and WPEA steward meeting with the President, and the December Board of Trustees report. The notes and report can be found in the links below.
The WPEA Higher Ed Bargaining Team is set to return to the bargaining table on Tuesday, December 17. While WPEA have received very few dates for upcoming bargaining sessions, your letters to OFM and college leadership helped secure dates earlier than February!
We are still waiting to see when WPEA will receive a response to the complaint submitted against the state and colleges.
VCOE:
The WPEA leadership team is monitoring the staffing plan of the VCOE due to the college’s decision to no longer fund 2 positions, that are currently grant funded, after 12/31/24. There are concerns of management skimming * vacant position’s work, an illegal practice. The WPEA Leadership team is in communication with HR to understand management’s staffing plan and will move forward with formal filing if necessary.

Steward Transition:
We would like to give a huge thank you to Eli Gonzalez-Roman for his work at Clark and as a steward. He is an advocate for Clark College veteran students and for worker safety. We can’t wait to see where he lands next!
