The Clark College WPEA Leadership Team wants to share a few updates with Clark College WPEA members:
Instructional Re-Org:
The Clark College WPEA Leadership Team recently met with instructional and enrollment services/credential evaluation staff to discuss the proposed instructional re-org.
WPEA shared concerns about staff workload not being considered in these models and how that may negatively impact the college. We want to ensure instructional leadership hear these concerns from our members. We are still waiting for instruction to provide a feedback form and encourage members to provide feedback about any workload concerns when requested.
The “Why” for the instructional re-org is still not clear. WPEA and the faculty union, CCAHE, have been clear with instructional leadership that sharing the “why” with our members is imperative in order for our members to give feedback on the best strategy to meet the needs for this re-org.

Immigration Rights and Non-Discrimination Policy:
The WPEA recently met with the college to discuss impacts to Clark College members in regard to the newly implemented Immigration Rights and Non-Discrimination Policy.
We continue to discuss impacts, but have the following updates to share thus far:
- Training: Training material and decisions on what trainings to provide is still in the works. Once we get more information on what that looks like, we will share those updates.
- Literature: The college will be creating a one page FAQ and policy overview for staff to have readily available. Members requested this information be provided in multiple languages. Spanish, Ukrainian, and Russian were requested, but if there are other languages staff need these created in, please let us know!
- Red Cards: The college will not be providing any literature, such as “red cards,” for students, stating concerns that this information may come across as legal advice. The college encourages staff to direct students and the public to our website regarding their rights.
- Satellite Campuses: Our satellite campuses still fall under the procedures outlined in the college policy. We also discussed staff expectations at CCW. WSU-V recently approved a similar policy, but Clark College staff at CCW are only required to follow Clark College’s policy.
- Policy Language: Part of the policy states that “Staff shall request that any person desiring to communicate with a student, enter college grounds, or conduct an arrest first produce a valid court order or judicial warrant.” The WPEA needs clarification on if staff are required to request a warrant or if staff are only required to contact security.
