Victory for Highline WPEA Members! Your New Contract Is Ratified!

We did it! We’re thrilled to announce that your contract has been officially ratified! This is a huge win for all of us, bringing stronger protections, better benefits, and real improvements to your working conditions.

This agreement is a direct result of your dedication, your solidarity, and your belief in a better workplace for all.

Here’s a quick look at some of the exciting updates you can look forward to:

Voting Results: 95% YES and 5% No

Article 8 – Training & Employee Development

  • WPEA members will not be required to train supervisors – that’s management’s job.
  • Holiday Week Bonus: College closure now includes 3 professional enrichment days during the Christmas holiday week (up from 2).
  • Managers no longer decide what counts as “beneficial” development – YOU have more say.

Article 11 – Vacation Leave

  • Vacation Cash Out Boost: Cash out up to 280 hours when separating (up from 240).

Article 12 – Sick Leave

  • Clarified what counts as sick leave abuse to protect members from unfair scrutiny.

️ Article 17 – Miscellaneous Leave

  • Bereavement Leave: Now 5 days (up from 3) + includes brother-in-law/sister-in-law.
  • Personal Leave: +1 day across the board!
  • Less than 10 years: 5 days
  • 10+ years: 6 days

❤️ Article 20 – Safety & Health

  • CPR Training Provided Twice a Year – keeping you and your coworkers safe.

Compensation Highlights

  • $1200 Signing Bonus – Every WPEA employee gets a lump sum on August 10, 2025!

COLA Increases:

  • 3% on July 1, 2025
  • 2% on July 1, 2026
  • $18/hour Minimum Wage for all classified staff.
  • Individual Classification Raises
