Highline’s union fight just made front-page news.
The Thunderword student newspaper published a detailed article about WPEA’s year-long contract battle and the recent picket line on campus. The piece lays out what led up to the action: OFM’s refusal to bargain in good faith, the state’s failure to fund ratified contracts, and Highline College backing out of agreed-upon bonuses after citing questionable legal concerns.
The article captures the frustration many members feel. It also shows the growing power of our union on campus.
And the momentum hasn’t stopped.
Just yesterday, members hosted a follow-up BBQ on campus—reaching more co-workers, deepening connections, and continuing to build the power needed to win. Members joined Discord, talked about the fight, and committed to staying active.
These are the kinds of actions that move us forward: visibility, connection, and organizing with purpose.
