Its officially time – we have reached a Tentative Agreement for the General Government and Higher Educations contracts. You will be able to cast your ratification vote starting August 22nd at 5am, running through September 14th at 11:59pm.

This Tentative Agreement is the result of months of difficult negotiations, lengthy delays, legal challenges, and budget setbacks. Despite these obstacles, your bargaining teams remained focused on what really matters: protecting their fellow members’ needs, rights, and rejecting harmful cookie-cutter contracts.

While we didn’t get everything we fought for, we made significant gains and fought off proposals that would’ve been detrimental to our membership.

What these past 15+ months have shown is that the real victory lies in the strength of WPEA’s growing unity.

We learned, spoke up, and stood as a collective – demanding better for all of us, and pushing back against the Office of Financial Management’s (OFM) disruptive stall tactics and pattern bargaining methods.

The Tentative Agreement before you may resemble the April version, however, it stands on a foundation of greater solidarity. Your voice and participation are a testament to the strength and unity of our bargaining teams and union members.

This vote marks the end of a historic and hard-fought battle. From legal action to budget roadblocks, rejected agreements to renewed negotiations WPEA stood strong together.

Your vote will help shape the future of our union and affirm the progress we’ve made together.
